Memorials are primarily manufactured from granite and limestone, while marble and slate are also popular. Granite is one of the densest and consequently one of the hardest-wearing stones. However lighter coloured granites are often not suitable for outdoor use in Ireland, as the higher iron content can lead to rust stains. Popular granite colours include Jet Black granite, Aurora Red, Bahama Blue, Mid Grey, Impala/Rustenburg and G603 Grey Granite.
